24|7 Home Rescue Hold Donation Day for Age UK Blackburn with Darwen
Generous 24|7 Home Rescue staff held a ‘Donate Don’t Dump’ Day where they contributed clothes and other belongings as part of their long-term support their charity partner, Age UK Blackburn with Darwen.
Employee’s from all parts of the business were asked to bring in any spare or unwanted clothes as well as books, toys, CD’s and other household items. The items collected will be sold in the Age UK charity shop in Darwen.
The money raised will go towards vital funding for the provisions of older people around East Lancashire and the staff at 24|7 Home Rescue were all too happy to help.
The teams managed to bring in over 20 bags full of their belongings with more arriving throughout the day. In fact, the staff had donated so many items that Age UK had to make two trips in the van to collect all of the bags with more arriving at the offices throughout the day and subsequent days!
Staff have also raised money for the charity by holding a Wear it Woolly day back in February and are planning on visiting The Mall in Blackburn this Friday 29th April holding bucket collections around the town centre.
Elaine Jennings, Business Development Manager at Age UK Blackburn with Darwen said: “We’ve been really grateful that 24|7 have donated to us today. To have firms like yourself actually sponsoring us and doing days like these is really useful for our local work.”
Luke Marsden, PR Manager at 24|7 Home Rescue, said: “We’re thrilled that all the staff managed to donate so many items to Age UK. Lots of small things can add up and make a real difference so we have faith that the Darwen store will manage to raise some money from our donation day. We hope that the money raised so far and throughout the year will help to bring vital services for those who are most vulnerable and at risk in our society and those for who Age UK are working tirelessly to assist.”
As part of the drive to bring awareness of the great work Age UK does, 24|7 Home Rescue has a number of events planned in the next few months including a ‘Go Grey for Age UK’ day and befriending schemes which they hope to start up over the summer.
