24|7 Home Rescue holds hair-raising Halloween event for local charity

The 24|7 Home Rescue team in Accrington transformed into zombies, skeletons, and various other scary sights to help raise money for Halloween.

Call centre staff also baked cakes to bring in for the cause, as well as taking part in pumpkin carving and “pinning the bone on the skeleton.” Winners were presented with vouchers and certificates for their efforts.

£100 was raised throughout the day, which the team decided to donate to East Lancashire Hospice, a local charity that provides pain-free and dignified care for patients with a diagnosis of cancer in their final stages of life.

Hassan Khonat, Operations Director at 24|7 Home Rescue, explains: “It was a very last-minute decision to raise some money for Halloween, so I am very impressed with all of our staff that came in fancy dress, took part in the events, and donated money. “East Lancashire Hospice is an incredible local charity that works extremely hard to make their patients comfortable and at peace before their life comes to an end, so we are privileged to raise money for them.”

Kimberley Hall, a fundraiser at East Lancashire Hospice, said: “We’re delighted with the kind donation from 247 Home Rescue from the Halloween fun day.” This donation could help a patient with a life-limiting illness get out of the house to come to our Creative and Support Therapy unit for the day, giving them a chance to ask questions about their illness and to take part in diversional therapies like woodworking, baking, or gardening. These are carried out in a safe environment where patients can feel a sense of achievement and independence, which can often be overlooked when someone is living with an illness. “The donation will make a huge difference to our patients and their families, and on behalf of them, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the event.”
