We all know that managing your work and home lives can be tasking. Maybe one of your New Year’s resolutions were to spend more time with the family? Work can be manic, and often out of your control. So here are a few ideas that 24|7 Home Rescue have put together that’ll make your life easier when you get home:
1. Use a task manager
Trying to juggle a career, family and social life can be exhausting, but don’t let it overwhelm you. Keep on top of things by investing in a task manager (or even just a calendar) and I promise you won’t regret it. Work meeting at 4pm? Write it down. Kids trampolining at 11am? Write it down. Meeting Susie for a coffee at 3? Write. It. Down! Not only will it help to keep your daily time management in check, but you can also use it to store important information such as policy numbers and passwords that you’d otherwise forget!
2. Order shopping online
Most major supermarkets now do home delivery costing between an extra £2-5 depending on the time slot. Most of us would make that up in the petrol it takes getting there, or in the extra bits we end up buying that we definitely didn’t need, but couldn’t resist. Ordering online gives you more flexibility if you have children, elderly or disabled people in your home to consider, who may need supervision. But yes, there are pro’s and con’s to shopping online. You may want to do it yourself if you like reaching the loaf of bread right at the back of the shelf for an extra day’s freshness. Consider whether it’s necessary by asking, how big is your family and how quickly does it go through milk, bread etc.?
3. Clean as you go
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Every time you make a bit of a mess, try cleaning it there and then. It’ll stop the workload mounting up and you won’t have to dedicate whole weekends to getting the house straight again! If you really are a busy-body and don’t have time for that, perhaps look into hiring a cleaner for one day a week. There will be plenty of local cleaning companies to choose from and the cost will vary depending on the size of your house.
4. Get covered for everything
Make sure that you have boiler and home emergency cover. You never know when one of your appliances is going to fail on you, and knowing our luck it’ll probably happen when it’s most inconvenient! Ensure that you have a good level of cover in place so that if anything was to happen, you’re only a phone call away from getting an engineer out to fix it. You can check out our wide range of cover plans here or call us on 0345 3192 247.
5. Plan your meals
Get super organised by planning what you’re going to cook each day. Having concrete plans will reduce your time deliberating and you’ll be less likely to make half-hearted meals. If you can cook up a particularly large batch, store the leftovers in plastic containers to eat another day. Only having to bang it back in an oven or microwave for 5 minutes is going to save you so much time preparing another meal. It’s also incredibly energy and cost efficient!
