Yesterday (19/01) was #RegisterMyApplianceDay. Did you forget? If so, there’s still plenty of time. Here are some of the reasons that 24|7 Home Rescue believe that you should always register your appliances!
1. Recalls and warranty service.
This is the number one reason that springs to mind as a reason to register your appliance. It is incredibly important to maintain a safe home and knowing that you’ll be alerted if there is the slightest sign that your appliance may be unsafe will give you invaluable peace of mind. Yes, you may hear another way (such as the news) that the manufacturers of your appliance have issued a product recall. Thus you can get rid of it, but if it’s not registered you will have very little protection or help when it comes to replacing it!
2. Save some dough.
It’s surprising to find that, registering an appliance also entitles the consumer to an extended guarantee/warranty in most cases. There’s nothing more infuriating than an appliance breaking down on you a week outside of its warranty, so you won’t regret extending it that little bit (or a lot) further if worse comes to worst!
3. Better customer service.
If your appliance is registered, it’s going to make any future complications much You won’t waste time trying to hunt down a receipt, invoice or bank statement from goodness knows’ how many years ago! The manufacturers will be able to locate your appliance information just from your personal details.
4. Proof of ownership.
As mentioned above, registering your appliance constitutes as proof of ownership. So heaven forbid, if anything drastic was to happen where you would need proof, such as insurance purposes, you will thank yourself that you registered your appliance. Even if you do keep all of your receipts, invoices and statements in a safe place, if you were to experience a fire you’ll no longer be able to rely on them. Thankfully, the manufacturers will have all of this information to provide your insurance company with.
5. It’s easy.
There’s no reason not to register your appliance when it’s this easy. Ideally, you should always register your appliance soon after purchasing it. But if it might have slipped your mind, most brands will let you register your older appliances too. You can find out more information here.
