The aim of the day was to raise awareness of the struggles older people face during the cold, winter months. Nationally, 40,000 older people are expected to die prematurely from the cold this winter with one in three being left unable to heat their homes properly due to high energy costs.
Operations Director, Hassan Khonat said: “The shocking figures serve as a saddening reminder that perhaps not enough is being done to protect older people during the winter months. The figures are the highest for 15 years, so it’s at times like these the partnership with Age UK makes perfect sense. We help, we repair, we care is our company motto and we hope we proved this in our fundraising efforts for such a worthwhile cause.”

Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Blackburn with Darwen, Vicky Shepherd congratulated the company on their efforts: “Thank you for Wearing it Woolly for us today. Your donation will certainly help support our local services.”
