Nationwide boiler, landlord, home emergency cover and appliance repair specialist, 24|7 Home Rescue, aims to bring awareness to household dangers and promote child safety for under 5’s in aid of Family Safety Week 2016.
The event, which runs from March 7th to March 11th is the third annual Family Safety Week launched by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) with a series of events and safety campaigns running throughout the week.
Among the most common accidents are falls, burns, poisonings and chokings. Shockingly, there are approximately 6,000 deaths each year as the result of an accident in the home and more than two million children are taken to accident and emergency units as the result of a household accident.
Fire is the greatest cause of accidental death to children in the home with 46% of fatal accidents being caused by fire whilst 30,000 children attending A+E for poisoning each year – usually occurring from ingesting domestic cleaning substances.
24|7 Home Rescue is supporting RoSPA throughout the week to educate people on hidden dangers within the home through a series of informational articles including advice on how to keep little one’s safe, promoting child safety as well as live tweeting the campaign all week.
Operations Director, Hassan Khonat, said: “The sheer amount of accidents occurring at home to children is staggering. 24|7 Home Rescue prides itself on ensuring our customers are kept warm, safe and content should a household emergency ever occur with their appliances and it’s essential that we try and promote child safety where we can. Family Safety Week is an invaluable safety campaign and we’re so pleased to be advocating it this year.”
